Several weeks ago, my pastor came to our staff and gave us a number. 213. He said he was believing in God to win 213 people to Christ this Easter. He even believed it so much that he told our whole church. For a guy who has a lot of credibility in our community and among our congregants, that’s an audacious and strange request. 213 souls.
Men have made stranger requests in the Bible. When presented with a world of riches and dominance over enemies, Solomon asked God simply for wisdom to lead a nation. When his enemies were narrowly escaping into the night, Joshua bid the sun to stand still. When given an opportunity to turn away from the cup of suffering and gain the kingdoms of this world, Jesus invited the cross.
I will gladly follow a man who has the audacity to ask for 213 souls.
I ask you to pray with me for great things to happen this Easter, both at my church and yours. Really, I am believing for great things to happen among the Church (capital C intended). So, have the audacity to put a number on the board and look like a fool for Jesus. What’s your number? What’s your request? Who is that individual you’re praying to see come to Jesus? Or that family member? Or coworker? Or friend?
