It’s always important to study your craft. If you’re a rookie, this especially applies to you. These are a few of the books that I’ve read recently or am currently reading. All of these came with high recommendations from ‘veterans,’ who’ve helped me grow over the years.
1.”Developing the Leader Within You” – John Maxwell
Leadership is influence. You’ll learn how to gain influence and utilize your newly gained influence with John’s advice from this book. Look at the Five Levels of Leadership he outlines in chapter one. Very helpful.
2.”Developing the Leaders Around You”- John Maxwell
After hearing that I loved the first one, a friend gave me this one for free. John gives some awesome principles on how to develop your team. Worth the read. But definitely read Developing the Leader in You first, if you have to pick.
3.”Deep and Wide”- Andy Stanley
I picked this one up thanks to Brian Dodd(@BrianKDodd) and Jayson John (@JaysonJohn). Brian describes it as the new “Purpose Driven Church” for today. Andy Stanley is extremely honest in this book, and that’s what I loved about it!
4. “The Five Temptations of a CEO”- Patrick Lencioni
This is another one I got from a friend. I found that I struggle with many of the temptations that Lencioni outlines in this book. It helped me find the kinks in my leadership armor and face many of my fears as it pertained to leading a team.
